COFICA is a financing organisation for retail customers and small companies, founded in 1945. It is specialised in loans for cars, lorries and farm tractors. In 1970 it joined the Compagnie Bancaire, parent company created by Jacques de Fouchier to consolidate its consumer credit activities (Cetelem), life insurance (Cardif), direct banking (Cortal) and corporate automobile and farm equipment fleet management (Arval Service Lease). For 31 years COFICA’s business was linked with Cetelem (consumer credit), which completely absorbed the company in 2001.
