Season's Greetings cards from BNP, 1992 - BNP Paribas Historical archives BNP Paribas (FRAHBNPP_3Fi445)

The tradition of sending wishes is a very old one, but greeting cards emerged later and gained popularity in England in the 19th century with the invention of lithography and the introduction of the first postage stamp in 1840. Typically sent during the Advent season to wish a merry Christmas and a happy new year, in France, cards are usually sent after the holidays and have become a way to replace the traditional obligation to visit family, friends, and acquaintances during the first two weeks of January to wish them happiness and prosperity for the coming year.

In today’s world, this tradition lives on, and BNP Paribas is no exception. Illustrated greeting cards, often featuring the numbers of the new year, have evolved and now take on various forms. Below, discover some of the greeting cards sent by the Group, which reflect its commitment to both tradition and innovation.
